Berkeley...Saturday, April 2

We have been members of Solano Athletic Club while out here in good old California.  One of the programs in particular that we have been attending, is our Group Ride classes several times a week.  We have had the privilege to get to know some of the attendees of the class.  One man in particular, Dave told us that we should head into Berkeley and check it out for a day.  We took his advice and explored the two places he recommended...

1) The Berkeley Pier

View of San Fran

Looking toward the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz...

Looking back toward Berkeley...

Japanese statue to protect the pier...

2) UC Berkeley

View from the science building with the huge whale outside!
You can see the pier that we had been on earlier...it's about as far out into the bay as you can go!

Beautiful building on campus...

Boys LAX game and the new Coliseum that's under construction

Tennis matches

This is the building we were told to go...The Life Sciences building

After being in awe of the T-Rex we read that it was discovered in Bozeman, Montana (we love you Keith!)

The Campanile (Sather Tower)
Standing 307 feet, it's the third highest bell and clock tower in the world!

Sorry that this photo is a little awkward...there was a huge shadow, so I had to take it upside down!

We ate at Burger Meister, Meister Burger, where we watched the UConn men win their final four matchup!

UConn Huskies, symbol of might to the foe....

"Do You Know the Way to San Jose?" Saturday, March 12 (Happy Birthday Harper!)

At the house before we left, we were so excited!

All the pubs and eateries had Shark's specials!

We ate here at Peggy Sue's, a '50's-type burger place!

Just like San Fran, San Jose was super clean!

Museum of Art

Walking from San Pedro Square toward HP Pavilion...

Waiting for them to open the doors!
We're in!  Much to our surprise, there were quite a few Rangers fans there too!

The best part of our day was about to happen: we were allowed to
watch the Rangers practice from the front row!

Waiting for the boys to emerge...

We had such a great time watching the guys practice...it was definitely a highlight.
The exceptional game was just icing on the cake for us!

So close to Hank/Henrik/Luni/Lundquist!

Staal!

Duby!

Pure awesomeness!!!

After the "incident," I moved myself up a few rows.  You can see several officials to my left.  They were questioning myself and others about whether a fan should be kicked out of the game...

It's showtime!

Pretty cool entrance for the Sharks!

The Rangers won in a shootout...Duby made the winning shot!
